About the Auxiliary
The Auxiliary is a group
of Catholics committed to extending the reach
of the Order of Malta according to the following three
tenants.
- To extend the reach of the Order of Malta through direct volunteerism and hands on service to the poor, the sick and the unborn.
- To provide spiritually enriching activities for the membership of the auxiliary.
- To provide a social network for individuals with common values and an interest in service to their community.
The three main aspects of the Auxiliary are Faith, Works and Friendship. We live our faith by gathering as a community each month when we gather for monthly mass. Our works are done in such venues such as St. Anthony's Foundation, St. Anne's and Lourdes. Whenever we gather be it a spritual or a service project, we take time renew and build friendships formed by our work together as a group.

The Auxiliary also participates in many of the activities of the Western Association throughout the year. Some of the events include the annual Lourdes Day held every October, the annual Christmas lunch for the residents of St. Anne’s Retirement Home in San Francisco and the Order’s annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, held every April. The pilgrimage is usually held toward the end of April. Auxiliary member assist the Knights and Dames as they care for the sick (malades). The Lourdes pilgrimage is a spiritually enriching experience for all who participate.
