In various parts of the world, the Order operates residential institutions for the aged and the infirm.  In the Western Association, the Order does not itself operate any such institutions, but it provides financial and hands-on support to several organizations that provide residential care for the aged and infirm.  These include:

Jeanne Jugan Residence, San Pedro, CA

The Jeanne Jugan Residence, located on Western Avenue in San Pedro, California and operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor, provides life long security and care for the elderly in a home-like setting, surrounding them with thoughtful attention, spiritual support and appropriate medical care.  The Little Sisters uphold the dignity and value of each life, promote the well being of their residents, and keep vigil with them when dying.  The Little Sisters embrace poverty and depend on the generosity of others willing to share in their mission.  Invested and Auxiliary members of the Order regularly assist with serving food, providing companionship, and otherwise assisting the Little Sisters.  The Order also holds an annual Lourdes Reunion Mass and meal at the Jeanne Jugan Residence.  Please contact Mary Winzen for additional information.

St. Anne's Residence, San Francisco, CA

The St. Anne’s Residence, located on Lake Street in San Francisco and also operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor, similarly provides life long security and care for the elderly.  The Order's invested and Auxiliary members hold three main events at St. Anne's – a Christmas lunch, a Memorial Day picnic, and a Lourdes Reunion Day.  Please contact Julie Munro for additional information.

Mary Health of the Sick, Newbury Park, CA

Mary Health of the Sick Convalescent Home and Hospital, located in Newbury Park, California and operated by the Sisters Servants of the Sick, provides compassionate end-of-life care to the elderly poor and terminally ill patients.  The Order's invested and Auxiliary members hold an annual spiritual reflection at the hospital.  After the reflection, the Order’s team serves lunch and hosts an ice cream social.  In addition, members of the Order regularly assist with support and educational programs.  Please contact Scott Daily for additional information.

Mercy Retirement and Care Center, Oakland, CA

Mercy Retirement and Care Center, located on Foothill Boulevard in Oakland and operated by the Sisters of Mercy, serves 160 elderly men and women who live in the Sisters Retirement Center or Care Center.  Every Sunday, the Order's invested and Auxiliary members assist residents wishing to attend Mass in the Sisters’ chapel.  The Order’s team also hosts an annual barbecue and regularly assist the Sisters in the ministry.  Please contact John Rengel for additional information.

Santa Teresita Manor, Duarte, CA

Santa Teresita Manor, located in Duarte, California and operated by the Carmelite Sisters, cares for 118 elderly residents.  Every February, invested and Auxiliary members of the Order host a reflection, Mass and meal in commemoration of the World Day of the Sick.  In addition, members of the Order periodically assist with other projects, as needed.  Please contact Dick Hotaling for additional information.
