Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem.
This thriving obstetrical/gynaecological facility, owned and operated by the Order of Malta, is located in a region where tense political conditions and an unstable economy create impoverished and destitute ways of life. The hospital is the only facility that can safely handle the complicated births which result from the physical stress of living under such extreme conditions.

Holy Family Hospital provides state-of-the-art maternal child health care, modern birthing facilities and a comprehensive neonatal intensive care unit for premature infants who cannot be referred elsewhere.

All women and infants are treated regardless of national origin, religion or ability to pay. An expectant mother has never been turned away nor have the doors been closed due to political unrest - there is always room at the inn, 500 yards from the birthplace of Jesus.

Since the region has no health insurance or welfare system, patient payments only cover 33% of the operational costs.

The Holy Family Hospital Foundation was established in 2000 as a joint project by the three associations of the Order of Malta in the USA. The Foundation was organized exclusively to generate and distribute funds for the operating expenses of Holy Family Hospital. Since its founding, the Foundation has sent more than one million dollars to support the Hospital, as well as beginning to build an endowment in the USA which will provide the long-term security for the continuation of this much needed and growing service. It is through the generosity of our members and friends that we can care for the poor women and infants of the West Bank. The Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) corporation - donations are consequently tax deductible according to current IRS guidelines.
