The Western Association currently provides financial and hands-on support to the following projects in Los Angeles County:
Hygiene Kit Project. On the second Tuesday of each month, invested and Auxiliary members, recognizing the dignity of persons who are homeless, assemble 400 hygiene kits consisting of tissue, toothpaste, a toothbrush, deodorant, soap, a razor, and a pair of socks. The kits are then distributed to the homeless in downtown Los Angeles. The Order’s team meets at the Outreach Center of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral, which also provides support for this project. Please contact Richard Grant for additional information.
Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Jeanne Jugan Residence, located in San Pedro, provides life long security and care for the elderly in a home-like setting, surrounding them with thoughtful attention, spiritual support and appropriate medical care. The Little Sisters uphold the dignity and value of each life, promote the well being of their residents, and keep vigil with them when dying. The Little Sisters embrace poverty and depend on the generosity of others willing to share in their mission. Invested and Auxiliary members regularly assist with serving food, providing companionship, and otherwise assisting the Little Sisters. The Order also holds an annual Lourdes Reunion Mass and meal at the Jeanne Jugan Residence. Please contact Mary Winzen for additional information.
