The Western Association currently provides financial and hands-on support to the following projects in San Francisco:
Holy Family Day Home, located on Dolores Street in San Francisco, operates a “home grown” health program for poor and homeless children and their families. On Tuesday afternoons, invested and Auxiliary members assist with a family “farmers market” project, during which fresh fruits and vegetables, canned foods and cereals are offered to families in the program. InnerCHANGE/Casa San Dimas Transitional Home, located in the Mission District, provides a transitional home and relational network and support system for five young persons referred from Juvenile Hall. Invested and Auxiliary members sporadically assist with upkeep and mentoring. Please contact Roger Hagman for additional information.
Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Anne’s Residence, located on Lake Street in San Francisco, provides life long security and care for the elderly in a home-like setting, surrounding them with thoughtful attention, spiritual support and appropriate medical care. The Little Sisters uphold the dignity and value of each life, promote the well being of their residents, and keep vigil with them when dying. The Little Sisters embrace poverty and depend on the generosity of others willing to share in their mission. Invested and Auxiliary members hold three main events – a Christmas lunch, a Memorial Day picnic, and a Lourdes Reunion Day (in the fall). Please contact Laura Hosking for additional information.
Most Holy Redeemer AIDS Support Group, located on Diamond Street in San Francisco, provides in-home support to those infected with HIV/AIDS. From time to time invested and Auxiliary members provide transportation to the Group’s clients. Please contact Robert McGrath for additional information.
St. Mary’s Medical Center, located on Stanyan Street in San Francisco, provides comprehensive medical services. Invested and Auxiliary members serve as Eucharistic Ministers for hospital patients. Please contact Marybeth Barrett for additional information.
