The Western Association currently provides financial and hands-on support to the following projects in San Mateo County:
St. Francis Center, located in Redwood City, provides food, clothing, information on low income housing, computer classes, literacy training and shower and laundry facilities to the homeless and working poor. Invested and Auxiliary members assist the Center by tutoring GED adult students and providing informal counseling. The Order’s team also helps operate the Center’s Christmas Toy Program. The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Mateo County, Catherine Center, located in San Mateo, provides transitional housing for women recently released from incarceration. Invested and Auxiliary members host an annual birthday party for women residing in Catherine Center. Please contact Mary Jo Anstey for additional information.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Mateo County, Peninsula Family Resource Center, located in San Mateo, provides assistance with food, housing and utilities to the needy. On a monthly basis, invested and Auxiliary members gather to make sandwiches and serve food to the poor. Please contact Mary Jo Anstey for additional information.
Shelter Network. The Shelter Network operates a 76-bed facility on Maple Street in Redwood City that provides emergency and transitional housing to homeless men and women. Among other volunteer activities, invested and Auxiliary members have hosted an annual Christmas party, a Valentine’s Day party, and a July 4 dinner.
